It’s important to END the MISCONCEPTION that only Veterans have P.T.S.D.

In fact, according to  (National Alliance on Mental Illness); About 50% of all people will go through at least one traumatic experience.  Of course there were many traumatic events like many others. I was in a rehabilitation center that was cult like, which was shut down by the Bergen County prosecutors office back in the 90’s. It was different than other traumatic events in my life time. The typical being kicked out of the house.  Falling out of the tree house and even being sent away to the Paramus JDC as a kid.  Did thoughts cause P.T.D.S. not at all.  The rehabilitation Center was much different. Others tried to get out, jumping out of moving cars, jumping off bridges and other events trying to escape the KIDS OF BERGEN COUNTY corrupt facility.  Many aspects of the place left me with nightmares and visions. (FYI another similar center had been shut down).

“It’s ok, to Not Be ok” Therapy and support if symptoms persist is the best way.  according to NAMI. Here is an article that may help you understand P.T.D.S. CLICK HERE! “Whether you’re a military service member, veteran, salesperson or elementary school student, PTSD has the potential to develop in any of us. And if it does, please know that help is available. No one should face PTSD alone.”-NAMI..

The new HRG community resource guide for Fall will be out at the end of  September and some of the new resources will include some updates on how to receive inpatient / outpatient (addiction services) treatment at New Bridge Medical Center. Of course we will also have new food pantries to check out as well. Back to school can be expensive but there are some churches in the Bergen County area that may help with some school supplies including backpacks and paper products. These Churches also help with food and clothing as well.  Many of the resources and events in the Bergen County area can be found on our Face Book page.

Also we must start thinking about #CodeBlue for when the weather starts getting colder. Don’t forget #MealsOnABudget Series as well. Want to watch some video’s on that? #MealsOnABudget Series, well we have that too! There are also many colleges and universities that have food pantries as well. (you can find them on the Face Book page). Email me at any time about any of these resources at  editor@hrgcommunitynews.com .

Here are many other resources you may need including Veterans, eviction prevention and even pet food pantries.
