There are an unbelievable amount of resources and in many cases, they can be hard to find! When I had first walked around Hackensack, checking out all the places people could go to get all the Social services and other things they needed. (of course everyone now has to go to Rochelle Park to get their EBT, TRA, EA and other BCBSS Services). In any case, If your new to the area it can be challenging finding anything that could help you get threw your situation! We added a new “Search Bar” to help you navigate all our online resources, events and news! Of course I’ll have the Bergen County resources listed, we’ll talk about them in a bit! Download the Guide! Also If you have, or need help with something, thinking about doing something, but that is as far as it gets; Check this out!

You know the first think I’ll talk about is Food! Possibly my favorite topic! Center for food action in Hackensack (and other locations as well) can help you if you are low income and need assistance with other various Services!

One of my Favorite Organizations that I like is Transition Professionals! They are all volunteers and are comprised of many partners, such as BCPO, BCDS, The River Mission, Church Emmanuel, BC Probation, & many more! They are located at 269 Passaic Street Hackensack NJ 07601 They are the only Org. that helps x-offenders at the BCJ and the county re-entry program!

The River Mission is located in The Second Reformed Church, 436 Union St. Hackensack. This Church Was my first Group I had checked out when i first came to Hackensack about 10 years ago. I never left! It is a wonderful place w/ “Oasis Tuesday” program (11:30-1:30 as well as Worship Service on Sun.’s at 6Pm. then community dinner after! Wed. they have Bibles and bagels at 6 Pm.

About a year in Hackensack; clueless and disheveled, needing help, I found One Bergen Plaza! It was Resource information overload! Like I hit the jackpot of Resources and the jackpot of the nicest people around! (from Seniors, Vets, housing & more! check out all the resources at One Bergen!

I know it’s not a place, but within the One Bergen Administration building is the 2’nd floor Senior services’s “Housing Navigator” I would suggest signing up for the “Navigator Notes“. A resource that is a monthly news letter(unless a new resource for housing comes up)

A couple more Hackensack resources to point out is the Bergen County;Housing, health and human services center! More than just a shelter(they have everything from homeless prevention to housing and community lunch and dinner every day! Lastly, My Friend Theresa; she used to be in Hackensack but now in Teaneck, here Organization is Never Alone again!(N.A.A.G.) She helps with Domestic violence victims! Check out her page!
